1/24/2013 Edit: There was a change in name to this service. It is now called MRSware Sync, and all menu items in the system reflect that name change. This article reflects the changes in the new subscription.
The designated Administrator for an installation can enable the MRSware Sync service for all Users on that installation. Like other administrative controls, the MRSware Sync service control is located in the System Administration screen, found under the "Go To" → "System Administration" menu option.
Login: The login name will be created for you automatically, there is no need to enter anything here. This will be the Username each person enters into the sync client (either Funambol or sync.mrsware.net).
Password: Enter a password for the User. This will be the password they enter into their device to synchronize with the service.
Contacts Sync Category: Select a Filter Category from your system that this User will synchronize against.
The Filter Category is a key part of the Contact synchronization process. The designated category is what will be used to determine which contacts and companies will be sent down to the device for synchronization:
- Any contacts/companies that have this category will be sent to the device on synchronization.
- Those contacts/companies that do not have the category will be ignored for synchronization.
- When a contact come up from the device, it will be assigned this category automatically.
It is typical that a set of categories be created especially for use with this service. For example, we would create MM:Bob, MM:Daisy, and MM:Mary categories, one for each user of the service. However, the Administrator can designate any existing category for use with the service.
For instructions on creating a category in MRSware, see Creating Categories.
Calendar: Leaving the default selection of 7 days in the field for Exclude appointments old than tells the system to look for anything that has changed in that time frame. Changed and new appointments with that time will be synchronized. The maximum value for this field when using Google Sync is 20 days -- Google will not show us modified appointments older than this time frame.
Select Public Type and Private Type of appointment for synchronization. When an appointment is created on the User's device, we need to know what Type in MRSware to assign to it. Select a Type that new appointment should be added as in MRSware.
There are both Private Types and Public Types in MRSware. Private Types allow only the User that entered it to see the details (but the time will still be blocked out in the Free/Busy schedule for everyone to see the User is unavailable). Public Types are those are shared with others in the company, either through inviting them to the appointment or through the general MRSware permissions. When an entry is made in the client device, selecting Private or not there will dictate the Type and permissions given to it in MRSware -- Users are able to keep Private appointments private, and share appointments with the company at their discretion.
Tasks: Select how far back you would like old Tasks to sync. Select Public Type and Private Type to use when adding Tasks to MRSware.
Journal: Select the Type to use when making new Journal entries in MRSware from your sync'ed devices.
Fun Tip: Have an appointment old than your Excluded days setting, but still want it to sync between your calendars? Making a change to the appointment, such as adding something to the Notes section, will get it to come across. |
Once the Subscription is created in the system, provide the User with their Login shown in the table, Password you created for them, and designated Filter Category. Once the user has this information, they will be able to set up their account for synchronization:
