Product Sales (top 20) report

5/5/2009

"What are my top selling Products, and who is buying them?"

The Product Sales report shows the 20 products with the highest total sales for the selected date range.

The report shows the Item Number, Manufacturer of the item, and its Description. For each item the total quantity sold, average sales price of the product, and total sales volume is shown.
The % of total is calculated against the total sales volume of all invoices in the selected date range. i.e. "item's total sales" / "total invoiced sales"

In addition to the sales information of each individual item, the summary section at the bottom of the report shows the total invoice sales amount (all sales, all products). The percentage shown is the percent of the total sales invoiced that the top 20 products represent.

total invoiced 1/1/2007 - 5/5/2009: $22,576,735.15
top 20 products percentage of total invoiced: 14 %

A lower percentage shows that there are many more products being sold than the top 20. In this case, the top 20 represents a smaller portion of the total business, and may reflect the diversity of products sold by the agency. A higher percentage indicates that the top 20 items represent a larger portion of the agency's total business. This may reflect several products that have significantly higher than average price points, or that the overall sales of several items far outpace the sales of the remaining portfolio of products represented.

Parameters

Report Title
As with all of the reports, the User has the ability to add a custom title to the top of the report.

Starting Invoice Date & Ending Invoice Date
The sales information in this report is summarized between the dates entered, as taken from the Invoice Entry screen and reflecting the date of sales that the manufacturer reports on their invoices.

Manufacturer
Filter the report by selecting a manufacturer to show just that manufacturers top 20 products being sold.

Sales Rep on Invoice
Filter the report to show just the items that the selected sales rep/territory is selling. This is also a handy way to limit the customers for products to a specific group that matters to the User.

Item Number contains
Enter part of or a complete item numbre to filter the report for just those items. For example, if one of my prodcut groups begins with "0080" product numbers, entering just "0080" will give me all products in that group: "0080-1234", "0080-1456", 0080-9745", etc.

Description contains
Enter part of an item description to filter the report to show only items with this description. As with the Item Number contains parameter, entering part of a product description will filter our list to ones we are interested in at the moment. For example: enter "blue" to list only items with "blue" in the description; enter "bucket" to list top 20 bucket-type products.

Show Customers?
This report has the ability to include the Product Customers report for each of the items. Checking this box will show the customers that are purchasing each of the top 20 items listed.

Like the Product Customers report, the Customers sub-sections can be sorted to show just the top 10 customers by sales volumne, all customers by sales volume, or all customers alphabetically.
