Reports: Commission Statement, Agency Commission Statement, Sales Rep Commission Statement

10/1/2008

The Commission Statement, and its related reports Agency Commission Statement and Sales Rep Commission Statement, are for use with the Payment Entry screen. These are part of MRSware's payment reconciliation features, a process by which the User's organization accounts for commissions paid on sales and payment of commission splits to its sales reps.

If your company is not doing Payment Entry, then these reports will be empty.

Parameters
The main report is Commission Payment and contains all of the available reporting parameters as described in the Commission Statement Report Parameters forum entry.

The Agency and Sales Rep version of the report use a pre-set grouping of these parameters, and therefor show a more limited number of parameters to the User.

The Commission Statement
Use the Commission Statement report to show the commissions paid on a set of Payment Entries between the desired dates. Typically this report is run for a current payment month to view all of the invoices paid against manufacturers' sales for that month. Through Payment Entry, the recording of payments of commissions for sales across many months is done, in this way the report will include invoices from possible many previous month all under the current month's payment date range.

The User has the ability to show or not show any of the individual summary sections to make the report either broad in scope or more concise. The User also has the ability to show or hide each of the individual types of commissions. This latter set of parameters makes it possible for office personnel to run reports on behalf of the sales reps while maintaining the appropriate permissions around what the sales rep can see. Of course, when the User runs the report they are restricted to the permissions defined in the system for reporting commission numbers and which portions of the splits can be displayed.

The Invoice Detail level of this report can be turned on or off to show the individual invoices for the payments. Including the individual invoices creates a very detailed, all be it longer report. Excluding the details level shows just a total for the given Sub Total By selection. The Details level is shown the Customer Summary section.

The Agency Commission Statement
This report is a preset of the Commission Statement to show the various commissions paid to the agency and out to the sales reps by rep, principal, and customer total per month. This report is intended to be run for the Owner/Business Manager for accounting purposes. The individual rep or sales manager can also run this report to get an overview of his/her territories. Reporting permissions apply, so the information shown will depend on permissions of the User running the report.

The Sales Rep Commission Statement
This report is intended to be run by (or for) the specified sales rep. The report is set to show the sales rep's portion of the split and a total per Principal and Customer.

Avg # Days
The average number of days column shows the number of days from the Invoice Date that the Payment Date occurred. In the Principal Summary section, this is the amount of time it took for the commission to be paid on the sales for that line. In the Sales Rep Summary section, this is the time delay in payment to the sales rep on commissions received for sales made by that rep.

% of Total
This column shows the percent of the total sales volume that this entry represents. This is the same information as shown in the sales distribution chart above, in numerical form. Use this information to see who the largest lines are, who is bringing in the most sales, or what customers constitute the largest portion of business.

Permissions
As with all reports that show Commissions, the system permissions are followed so that any given User can only see the type(s) of commissions that they are permitted to. The permissions are control in the System Administration screen using:

  • Commissions Figures under Reporting and Analysis
  • View Agency Split under Manufacturers Rep, Commissions
  • View Sales Rep Split under Manufacturers Rep, Commissions

In order to see the Total Commissions, the User must have "View Agency Split" permissions and "Commissions Figurers" permissions.
