Show $0 in Current Year / Month
The trouble with some reports is that they are incredibly lengthy and rarely distill just the new information that we care about at the moment... The Sales Summary and Sales and Commission reports are ones that typically are run each month. Since we are running these each month, it is more helpful to see just what is new and happening currently. To accomplish these, the reports exclude any customer that has NOT purchased from us in the selected time range. In other words, it excludes any customer that would have a $0 in the current month or current year (varies by report).
It is, however, sometimes important to run these reports (probably less frequently) while including those customers that have $0 sales. A good example of this might be to see who has not purchased from us, so that we can make a sales call on them specifically. To accomplish this, the report parameter is provided -- check "Show $0 in Current Year" to include customers that had no purchases in the selected year; check the "Show $0 in Current Month" parameter to include customers that did not purchase in the most recent month of the report.
Controlling this parameter on the report controls the length of the report and the totals that the User sees. Keep in mind that when a customer is excluded from the report they had no sales dollars in the current year and neither will their sales history be shown in the past year, as they are truly excluded from the report. The most obvious place to see this is in the Sales Repversion of these reports, as those reports contain both the Principal total and Customer total. When the customer is excluded, these two totals naturally won't match. A comparison of these two totals begins to reveal the amount of business due to returning customers as compared to new customer generation efforts. The Sales Rep reports specifically say this as the default Titleof the report, to remind the User of this point (the User can, of course, change the Title to anything they like, but it is there are a reminder).
