The Spam Filter Portal is a pre-deliver filtering mechanism designed to substantially reduce the amount of spam that are delivered to each Users' Spam folder in MRSware. The filtering portal works by holding message identified as bulk spam, from know spam senders, offensive content, malicious content and a number of other criteria. It holds those in the Spam Filter Portal before they are actually delivered to individual Users' Mailboxes in the MRSware system.
If spam filtering was 100% accurate, we could just delete those messages and be done with it. However, it is not 100% and thus Users need a way to look for and recover messages that were held by mistake. This task is assigned to 1 person at each company, who has access to the Portal and can "Release" a message for normal deliver when found to be caught in error.
The Dashboard shows summary statistics for the company, including total messages, the number that were held as Spam, and some cumulative stats for the month.
The Quarantine tab is the meat of the system, where messages can be looked up by sender and subject. There are just 3 options that are used:
1. View Message
Review the email in question to verify if it is indeed spam or not. This view is the full message including headers that might be helpful in determining spammyness.
2. Deliver Message
To release the message from the hold and deliver to the original recipient as intended.
3. Approve/Whitelist Sender
Mark a particular senders address as a safe. Future emails from this address will not be held in the Spam Filter Portal.
Overall, the Portal is designed to hold only the most egregious spam items. Regular emails will be passed through as normal, as will most newsletters and marketing pieces that an individual purposefully subscribed to. This makes it considerably less likely that something that was really good is caught in the Portal. Delivered messages in MRSware will continue to be subject to the Allowed, News, and Blocked Senders lists, as always.
