Order/Invoice Line Items

6/1/2022

While an Order or Invoice is a request to purchase, ship, and pay for something (a product or products), a Line Item represents a single entry on an order or invoice.  An Order/Invoice can have multiple Line Items on it.
For example:

Order/Invoice #123:
  • 10 cases yellow caution tape @ $2.00 each
  • 15 cases red caution tape @ $3.00 each
  • 5 cases blue caution tape @ $1.00 each
Order/Invoice #123 has 3 line items on it.

MRSweb has the capability to import Order or Invoice line item details.  When a manufacturer provides line item details in a report they send, it only takes seconds more to import those details.

Why capture the details?

Knowledge is Power.  Knowing who is currently buying a product or product group and who has stopped buying a product or product group gives you the insight you need to assist your customer build their sales.  Whether it's helping to pull product through a customer's warehouse or notifying a customer of product availability or helping your customer get the best price based on quantity purchased, line item details provide you with the information you need to stay ahead of your competition.

How to find Top Selling Products by Manufacturer, by Customer

9/24/2020

What are the best selling products for a manufacturer?  Who's buying a specific product?

This type of information can be invaluable.  Rather than go to the manufacturer and ask for the information, run a report in MRSware to find the answer.

As usual, in MRSware, there's more than one way to find out this information.

Here's how to run a report showing top selling products by manufacturer.
(In the example, we're looking at Toys and Games Co)

1. Click on "Report Explorer" in the Shortcuts panel
OR
1. Click on the "Report Explorer" icon on the Shortcuts tool bar

How to Save & Re-Open Data Analysis Views

9/24/2012

Data Analysis is my preferred choice for reporting in MRSware.  With Data Analysis you can manipulate the table with the data by sorting, filtering, using pre-set calculations, and even adding custom calculations to the columns.

Once you have taken the time to get your report exactly the way you want it, you can save the view so next time you open Data Analysis, you don't have to move the various dimensions around to get it back to your preferred view.

Principal Ranking - % of Total Sales or Total Commissions

7/12/2012

Our customers often ask how they can find out what each line represents, as a percentage of their total sales or total commissions.  For instance, the agency represents 10 lines.  Which lines are the most important - sales wise and commission wise?

In the old days we had to set up an Excel file and enter the total sales and the total commissions for each line and then sort by sales or by commissions to find out which lines were the largest.  You would have to enter a formula into Excel in order to find out the actual percentage of total sales or total commissions each line represented.

Now all you have to do is use MRSware's Data Analysis "Sales and Commission Analysis" to get this information.  If you have entered your sales and commissions into MRSware the analysis cube will automatically formulate the information for you.  All you have to do is click a couple of buttons to see the results.

Now Showing: Sales Summary Analysis and the magical 5 columns

Data Analysis

The most requested sales dollar summary fields from the Customer Sales by Rep and Principal Sales by Rep reports can now be found in a new Data Analysis cube titled Sales Summary Analysis.  How to run the data analysis cube:
  1. Open Data Analysis via the Shortcuts panel.
  2. Run the Sales Summary Analysis cube by double-clicking on it.
  3. Select the dates to analyze.

Why use Data Analysis instead of the Report Explorer?

The reports in report explorer are great for quickly generating sales data for print or e-mail; the PDF formatting in particular lends itself well for either of these jobs.  Data Analysis allows users the additional flexibility to sort and filter the sales data to see just what the user is interested in.  For example, a sales rep could filter the cube view to show just a particular customer and the lines he is buying from in order to share this information with the customer.
