What is WebMail? FAQ

5/27/2011

The WebMail.MRSware.com site is a POP3/IMAP client to access Plus Package Users' Mailboxes in MRSware.  This site does the same function as setting up your phone, Outlook, or using other web mail services like Gmail or Yahoo Mail.  In each of these cases, these clients connect to and get e-mail from MRSware Mail Servers for the User's Mailbox that is entered.
Q: Why use WebMail instead of Outlook, Gmail, or Yahoo Mail?
A: The advantage of WebMail is that it is already configured for each User, only requiring the User to login with their Email Address and Mailbox Password.

If you are on someone else's computer, this is handy as there is nothing to setup, configure, or change on their computer in order to access your e-mail.

If you are on your own computer, installing MRSware is the better option as you will have access to the full feature set that is offered in Email.  If you are using a device that does not support MRSware directly, then using the WebMail site is an excellent alternative.  Likewise, using the device's built-in mail client via POP3 or IMAP is also an excellent choice.

Q: Should I use WebMail or the built-in Mail Client on my phone?
A:  In many cases, the built-in client may work better on the device, as it is designed for that device's screen size and any additional functionality it may have.

Our recommendation is to use the phone's built-in mail client when possible.  You will find the experience more enjoyable simply for that fact that the client was designed for that device.  See the POP3 or IMAPsetup instructions pages to get started.

Q: What is my Mailbox Password, is it the same as my MRSware Login Password?
A: Your Mailbox password is set separately from your MRSware User password, and in most cases will be completely different.  If you are unsure what you password is, your company's Administrator can reset your password for you.

Q: When I am using WebMail, is it using POP3 or IMAP?
A: The answer to this depends on which package your company is subscribed to.  If you are a Business Package Plan User, then you will be connecting via POP3.  If you are a Plus Package Plan User, then you will be connecting via IMAP.

Read more about POP3 vs. IMAP features.

Q: I have MRSware installed on my computer, but I can't access WebMail.  Why does one work and not the other?
A: The MRSware Desktop Client and the WebMail web site are unrelated to each other.  They do access the same Mailboxes, but they do it in completely different ways.

If you are having difficulties accessing the WebMail site, take a look at the WebMail forum topics to see if the browser you use has any know issues, and for other helpful information in working with the site.  If your particular issue is not addressed in the forum, please contact [email protected] for further assistance.
